Here's the thing about websites: pretty doesn't always mean effective. You can have a gorgeous template, beautiful fonts, and all the right colors, but if your photos aren't telling the right story, something's going to feel off.
I spent 15 years as a photographer in Dallas, starting with senior portraits (even landing a feature in Rangefinder magazine!) before moving into brand photography for more than 50 businesses. So I approach website design a little differently: I design from the photos out. I can usually spot what's missing before you spend another dollar on a template or photoshoot. A blessing and a curse.
I discovered Showit while building my own photography website, fell in love with the creative freedom, and designed my first client website in 2020. Somewhere between Dallas and moving to the mountains of Crested Butte, Colorado, I traded my camera for website design. Same creative brain, significantly less equipment.

No. I work from Crested Butte with clients across the country. The whole process, from kickoff call to launch, happens online.
Creative and service businesses, most of them women-owned: photographers, hair stylists and brow artists, fitness instructors and health educators, coaches, marketing firms and fractional CMOs, a landscaping company, and a nonprofit.
Showit lets me design a site that looks custom, with a separate mobile design, while you can still change text, photos, and blog posts yourself with no code. It also connects to WordPress for blogging.
You send your content 7–10 days before your start date. During your project, your only job is to watch your email and send feedback by 10 a.m. the next morning. You'll know what's happening every day and exactly when your site goes live.
